Greetings from Michigan! This is a wonderful place for a beach walking adventure guide to take a vacation. Look at this beautiful beach along the shores of Lake Superior.
For you adventurous hikers, please note that the shoreline of Lake Superior can be walked in it’s entirety. Two hikers are presently completing this amazing walk….over a 5 month period.
Not having more than a week to enjoy, I chose to enjoy various pristine white sandy beaches and was rewarded with wonderful sightings of ospreys and bald eagles.
The latest rage on the Monterey Bay is Stand Up Paddling (SUP). Lessons can be arranged in both Santa Cruz and Monterey. It is a great way to see the Monterey Bay up close and personal. You are virtually guaranteed to see some of your favorite marine mammals from a unique vantage point.
In the case of this relaxed paddler, he was able to enjoy his favorite land mammal as well as curious sea lions.

For those of you who do S.U.P. with your dogs, you are in luck. Local surf columnist, Neil Pearlberg, will have his inaugural DogJam stand up paddling event on August 21st from 9am to noon at the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor.
All of our walking groups enjoy finding interesting shells, rocks, and other beach combing items along the Monterey Bay seashore. Our latest walkers finished yesterday with a treasure trove of colorful items.
The advantages of a Slow Adventure are many…..

The starting point for Walk the Bay is Santa Cruz. We think it’s a very special place along our coastal walk. Our neighbor to the north (60 miles) San Francisco agrees….the SF Chronicle recently featured Santa Cruz and the writer captured the unique nature of the town. She observed that Santa Cruz offers the unique blend of adventure and leisure. Sounds like the perfect place to start a Slow Adventure walking trip!
The writer also gave kudos to some of our walkers’ favorites spots, including The Dream Inn, Aquarius Restaurant, and the Surfer Museum at the Lighthouse.
