Ed Stafford is a walker….who has taken the slow adventure to a whole new height. He just completed walking the entire length of the Amazon River! Yes, he’s the first person to ever accomplish this feat. Other expeditions have explored the entire river, however, they used boats. Ed walked the entire distance! It took him 2.5 years. He began on April 2, 2008, on the southern coast of Peru. Stafford started walking with a friend, who left after several months, and was then accompanied by hundreds of locals he met along the way. He finished on a beach in Northern Brazil….running into the Atlantic Ocean.
If you’d like to test your endurance walking abilities, go to the Amazon. However, you might want to Walk the Bay first to tune up your legs and your powers of observation. Our next trip from Santa Cruz to Monterey leaves today. Yours truly will be blogging from the trail as I will walk the entire distance with the group for the first time this season. I know it will be a great experience!
