Slow Adventure operates trips along the most beautiful coastal areas of Northern California. Our Walk The Bay trip takes you from Santa Cruz to Monterey, along the entire coastline of the Monterey Bay, home to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Our Bay to Bridge takes you along the rugged and historic coastine from Half Moon Bay to San Francisco. Following are some of the places and sights you will see on each trip.

WALK THE BAY

You’ll start your Slow Adventure in the vibrant beach town of Santa Cruz where you can check out the famous surf spots and the historic Boardwalk.  Your four day walk around the Monterey Bay will take you through the village of Capitola, along many state beaches, through 3 harbors, and around the Elkhorn Slough.  A popular overnight in the tiny town of Moss Landing (pop. 700) is always a highlight, followed by an overnight on the remote dunes of Marina.  Your trip finishes in Monterey at Cannery Row with a chance to visit the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, go whale watching, or explore Old Fisherman’s Wharf.

This leisurely trip allows you to explore the vibrant beach town of Santa Cruz where you can check out the famous surf spots and the historic Boardwalk.  Your three day walk on the Monterey Bay will include a night in the historic seaside village of Capitola, and a night at the oceanfront
Seascape Beach Resort in Aptos.

EXPLORE CROATIA

You’ll see the very best of the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia, starting in the ancient city of Split and finishing in Dubrovnik.  Along the way you’ll take ferries to the storied islands of Brač, Hvar, and Korčula, where you’ll walk from inn to inn while enjoying Croatian food and wine and coastal beaches and villages.

BAY TO BRIDGE

This walk starts in Half Moon Bay with its scenic bluffs and historic downtown.  You’ll walk through the harbor, out to the famous Maverick’s surf break, and up along the bluffs to the historic village of Moss Beach.  You’ll have time at the seal colony and the huge tide pools at the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve as well as the historic Montara Lighthouse.  Your path to San Francisco will take you along the coast through Pacifica and along Ocean Beach and San Francisco neighborhoods to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.  Your trip will cover 40-50 miles and you’ll visit many state parks or state beaches along the way.

These trips are scheduled in the Spring and Fall and include both the Monterey Bay area and the Half Moon Bay area. 

SUNSET SPECIAL

This leisurely walk starts in Half Moon Bay with a walk along its scenic bluffs to the historic downtown.  The next day you’ll walk through beachfront neighborhoods and state beaches to the busy harbor and your waterfront lodging in the tiny hamlet of Princeton-by-the-Sea. Your final day features a walk to the famous Maverick’s surf break, and up along the bluffs to the historic village of Moss Beach, through the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve and the Montara Lighthouse.
